The first meeting of the Goat Herd GTO Club of Oregon was held in April 1984 at John Link Pontiac in Oregon City. The Herd was a dream brought to life by three very enthusiastic GTO owners, Duane Benting, Marc Neary, and Joe Meshishnek. There were 18 members and prospective members in attendance. The primary purpose of the club was to restore, preserve, and enjoy the legendary GTO. The Herd is open to all GTO, LeMans, and Tempest owners, and to anyone having an interest in appreciating or owning one of those great cars. From our humble beginnings the Herd as grown to over 100 members. Our membership is virtually world wide. The Herd is a member of the GTO Association of America and was the first club to achieve 100% member participation in the GTOAA. The Herd has won the chapter of the year in the GTOAA an unprecedented three times! The Herd was the original sponsor of the GTOAA Northwest Regional Meet known as TIGER RUN. Participants in the event came from several states, and several provinces of Canada. The TIGER RUN let the GTO lover live the total GTO experience!
We love our members and prospective members, so feel free to visit during one of our upcoming meetings.
